Summer Landscape Painting Workshop

The Summer Landscape Painting Workshop at Cobbs Farm is a full-day immersive experience designed for adults who want to paint the British countryside with confidence and intention. Set against the backdrop of the Warwickshire landscape near Stratford-upon-Avon, this workshop takes you outside and into the scene itself.

Over the course of the day, you'll work through the fundamentals of landscape composition — how to read light, simplify a scene, and build a painting with structure and atmosphere. Andrew draws on his own practice as a contemporary landscape painter and Cotswold Artist of the Year to guide you through each stage, from the initial sketch to the final marks.

What's included:

  • Full-day guided painting session in the open air
  • Tuition from Andrew Field, award-winning landscape painter
  • Guidance on materials, colour mixing, and composition
  • A relaxed, supportive environment suitable for all adult levels

No prior experience is necessary — just a willingness to look, observe, and paint. Participants are encouraged to bring their own materials, with a recommended list provided on booking.

Andrew's Inspiration

As a life-long fisherman I have always found that being close to rivers is a place where I can think clearly, feel relaxed and unwind. A lot of my inspiration comes from water, whether being close to the River Avon, the Atlantic Sea surrounding Cornwall or further afield to the Arabian Gulf where I used to paint on the islands surrounding Abu Dhabi. I do also take a lot of inspiration from the Cotswolds as I drive through this area of outstanding natural beauty everyday and I love looking to see how the environment changes throughout the seasons and due to the evolving British weather.

Integrity: The Origins of The Painting

Andrew either makes his own paint in his studio using natural pigments and a binder or uses artist quality paint by Wallace Seymour Fine Art Products that is handmade in the UK. Working with the finest quality paints and understanding the origin of the pigments that I use to create my paintings is a vital part of my process.

Innovation: Working With Plant-Based Solvents and Painting Mediums

When painting the natural pigments that are used to make the paint is dissolved in the purest and healthiest plant-based solvents and painting mediums. Coco-Bello Diluent is a solvent derived from coconuts and is combined with rich mineral & earth pigments to replace turpentine or other hazardous thinners. Working with carbon-neutral and non-toxic vegan paint as well as plant-based solvents and varnishes protects my health when working in the studio and due to the products sustainability it is not damaging to the natural environment.

Andrew's Vision

Andrew is passionate about painting the British landscape as he see's it but using the highest quality ingredients that are hand made in the UK and derived from natural and mineral pigments using the most ecologically friendly plant-based solvents and varnishes to protect the planet and ourselves.
