Artist Statement
Andrew Field is British landscape painter who lived in the United Arab Emirates for eleven years but is now living and working in Stratford Upon Avon. He is known for creating powerful and evocative paintings that are a direct response to the landscape. Working with gestural brush marks and rich blues and greens combined with vibrant red and orange marks to give a sense of atmosphere and tension, to draw the viewer in and remind them of the beauty and power of the natural environment as well as the calming qualities of being surrounded by the elements. Andrew paints with rich vibrant oil colours and uses eco-friendly diluents and mediums that are plant-based and derive from sustainable sources. This aligns with his ethical approach and interest in preserving and celebrating the natural environment.
