Last Light on Yas Island

One of the last paintings that I completed on Yas Island before I moved back to the UK in 2015. Painted plein air using mixed media as the early evening light was projecting onto the landscape and turning parts of the water a simmering blue and other areas cast in shadow. The texture of the painting particluarly in the foreground is as a result of the sand and other natural elements that blew onto the canvas. The strong shamal winds seemed ever present as I painted plein-air.
