Spring Landscape Painting Workshop at Cobbs Farm Stratford Upon Avon on Monday March 30th

The landscape in spring is constantly changing with new growth, changing colours, smells and lighter, longer and brighter days. This one day workshop will encourage you to walk and look around the beautiful Warwickshire landscape surrounding Cobbs Farm Stratford-Upon-Avon to sketch directly in the landscape to observe the changes and identify interesting subjects to focus on.

Throughout the day you will learn painting techniques, as well as how to develop your own interpretation of the landscape in what you observe and capture in your paintings.

The workshop combines exploration of techniques and approaches used by different artists, such as capturing specific light effects, relating sky to land, choosing and composing a subject and dealing with the changing light and weather.

The workshop will take place outside to search for inspiration before going back to the Private Dining Room to develop ideas into a final painting.

Who is the course suitable for?

This course is suitable for beginners and intermediate artists.

What materials do partipcants need to bring?

Oil paints or acrylics (this list is a guide only; you can bring what you normally use)

• Titanium White, Cadmium Lemon Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, French Ultramarine, Cobalt Blue, Pthalo Blue, Ivory Black
• A mix of brushes, including some long flat medium and large sized hog hair brushes
• A palette
• Low odour thinners
• Palette knife (knives) and a palette
• Surfaces to paint on
• A sketchbook and pencils
• Paint rags
• Sun hat and warm clothes
• Water bottle

Pastries will be provided upon arrival and complimentary coffee and tea will be served throughout the day.
